For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.
I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ “Then these
righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?
Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’” ‭

LIVING WORD DEVOTIONALBy Pastor Mensa OtabilFriday 17th October 2025 A DIFFICULT POSTUREScripture Reading: Exodus 6 So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.Exodus 6:9 We can learn a lot from how the children of Israel responded to God’s message of deliverance. You would think that people who had been in slavery for hundreds of years would welcome God’s message of freedom to them. For years, they had cried for deliverance, yet when the process of liberation started, they seemed rather hesitant and even opposed to it. When Moses went to the people to assure them of God’s deliverance, they paid him no attention. The reason given was their ‘anguish of spirit and cruel bondage’. They were discouraged, exhausted, and their spirits were. The bondage had broken their will and resolve to pursue the freedom that God had promised them. Their heart were heavy, their morale was low, and they saw no end in sight, although God had promised them deliverance and exodus to the land He had promised them. These are the same people who had cried to the Lord as a result of deplorable living conditions. Words of assurance that should have strengthened the people of Israel, now infuriated them. God gave them seven strong commitments. However, none of those commitments meant much to the children of Israel. Many times, people pray for God’s intervention in their lives but are not ready for what it takes to receive the answer to their prayer. Maybe when they prayed, they expected God to whisk them away from Egypt without confronting Pharaoh. They did not expect that God’s answer to their prayer would include them taking a stand with Him. Are there times when we frustrate the process God uses to give us what we have asked Him for? Yes, there are. Many times. Until God’s promises to us feel more real to us than our pain, we cannot experience the divine interventions we hope for. Prayer: Heavenly Father, your promises are my reality. I choose to take sides with you against all my troubles. In Jesus’ name, Amen ... See MoreSee Less

By choosing Moses for the purpose of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, God fitted him for the task and made him what he needed to be to accomplish it.
When God calls us, He makes us. That’s why we cannot disqualify ourselves because of our history. God enables us to do as He wills

The deliverance of Israel out of Egypt was divinely directed through two particular men, for it was to them and no other that God assigned this task.

God knows our past. But He does not disqualify us from accomplishing His unique plan for our lives because of our lineage.

The anointing of God upon your life may open doors for you, but it’s your character that keeps those doors open. You can be gifted and still fall if your heart is not right.Look at King Saul. God chose him. He was anointed as Israel’s first king. But he disobeyed God and became proud. He cared more about pleasing people than pleasing God. In the end, God took His Spirit away from him. Then there’s Samson. Strong, powerful, and chosen by God. But he couldn’t control his desires. His weakness for Delilah cost him everything. He lost his strength, his sight, and his freedom. He had power, but no discipline. Power without purity is dangerous. Now think about Joseph. He was gifted, but he had to go through many tests before his dream came true. He refused to sin with Potiphar’s wife even when no one was watching. He stayed faithful in prison. When promotion came, his character was ready to carry it. That’s what godly character does. It prepares you for greatness. And Daniel. He lived in Babylon, a place full of idols and compromise. But he refused to defile himself with the king’s food. He prayed even when it was risky. He didn’t bend under pressure. That’s integrity. God honored him and lifted him up before kings. All these examples show that anointing alone is not enough. You can have power, but without a godly character, it won’t last. The power of God must be carried in a vessel that is humble, obedient, and pure. The anointing can lift you high, but only character will keep you there. ... See MoreSee Less
