WISDOM ARTWORK EXPLANATION
The whole artwork is based on our theme Scripture:
1 Corinthians 1:22–24 (NKJV) — 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
The Art work has four quadrants and a center piece
- The lower left quadrant
This quadrant represents Greeks seeking for wisdom
- A building

The Building is the Greek Parthenon that sat on the Acropolis. It represents the wisdom of the Greeks. ‘Greeks seek wisdom’
The sculpture is a piece by Auguste Rodin called ‘The Thinker’. It represents all intellectual wisdom
- The lower right quadrant
This quadrant represents the Jews seeking for signs
- A whale in the sea
- A man at the shore
- A tree on fire at the extreme right
The whale represents the big fish that God prepared to swallow Jonah
The man on the shore is Jonah. When the Jews requested a sign from Jesus, He gave them the sign of Jonah. Matthew 12:38–39 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” 39 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
The tree on fire is the burning bush that Moses saw. Again, It represents the sign that the Jews require.

The green tree shows that the person who walks in godly wisdom will not have his leaves wither.
The colourful tree shows that the person who walks in wisdom shall bring forth fruit in its season.
Psalm 1:1–6 (NKJV) — 1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
- Upper right quadrant

Scripture: Proverbs 8:1–3 (NKJV) — 1 Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? 2 She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. 3 She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors:
